Especializada en restauración de pintura, ha compaginado esta faceta con la docencia y la creación artística. Su obra ha sido seleccionada en diferentes certámenes -como el de Artes Plásticas Internacional de Valdepeñas- y ha recibido entre otros premios la medalla de honor en la Bienal de Arte do Morrazo. Para entender su pintura tenemos que hablar en primer lugar de dualidad. Aquella que se encuentra entre el espacio abierto y el acotado, la luz y la oscuridad, lo real y lo representado, lo visible y lo que no se ve. Además de su gusto por los contrastes, existen en su trabajo una serie de aspectos que configuran el sólido discurso de la artista viguesa. Desde sus primeras obras se hace patente su interés por lo cotidiano. Así queda reflejado en su obra “Subcity” (2003) -que da nombre al catálogo de la exposición celebrada en la galería DUA-2 de Vigo- y en cuya naturaleza muerta protagonizada por vasijas encontramos la influencia de Morandi. A este último aspecto alude la crítica y comisaria Mercedes Rozas, así como al significado que adquieren en la pintura de Cristina puesto que “los recipientes actúan como rascacielos”, como el skyline de un suburbio, de ahí el nombre de esta serie. “Subcity”/ collage sobre tela/ 200x81cm/ 2003 Lo femenino quedará establecido también como parte de su temática desde sus obras más tempranas, “Entretelas” (2005) -expuesta en el Centro Social Caixanova de Vigo- es un ejemplo de ello. Con esta serie cierra una etapa e inaugura una nueva a partir de la cual hará uso de materiales diversos -tela, aguja e hilo entre otros- y en la que la autora introducirá juegos ópticos y de percepción que ya no abandonará. “Entretelas”/ collage sobre lienzo/ 40x40cm/2005 Otro de los grandes elementos esenciales en la obra de Cristina lo constituye el espacio, tanto el libre como el acotado.
